Turing Award Winner: Disagreeing with Google, Postgres, Future Problems | Mike Stonebraker
An interview by Ryan Peterman of ‘The Peterman Pod‘
The intro goes like this:
Mike Stonebraker is a Turing Award winner famous for his contributions to fundamental database technologies. We discussed the story behind building Postgres, where he disagrees with Google/Amazon on databases, and what he’s working on now.
“Computer Science may not be a growth industry going forward” says Mike Stonebraker in this great interview.
I found it interesting as Mike is one of the ‘early’ developers in databases, a subject I have a great interest in. It stirred my passion for databases and memories of being part of the “Database Developers Association of South Australia” many moons ago.
